Is artificial intelligence the future? Artificial intelligence in autonomous cars and in the medical field may still have a long way to go. But before being integrated into society, it seems to be already entering in the field of building maintenance in Vancouver, British Columbia.
CTV News has published an article where a group of alumni of UBC have created a robot. The robot that can help clean floors to increase productivity. Can the robots really adapt to the scenarios and tackle obstacles intelligently? Should the robots come in to help janitorial services in Vancouver? And is it possible that custodian will lose their job because of robots? Only the time will tell. In CBF Management‘s opinion, it may be helpful to have robots to take on simple and easy tasks. It gives the cleaners some more time in hand to deal with tedious cleaning. These are tasks that are more important than just simply cleaning the floors. Tasks such as post construction cleaning, first time window cleaning, floor waxing & burnishing require special human care & attention.
With the introduction of robots, it might be easier to delegate simpler tasks. However, attention to detail, proper schedule following, visual comparison and task prioritization are attributes that robots may not carry as efficiently as a human can.
